ANTIBACTERIAL TECHNOLOGY WITH PHYSICAL-MECHANICAL ACTION
FOR HUMAN HEALTH AND THE ENVIRONMENT

INNOVATIVE, PERMANENT TECHNOLOGY, BIOCIDES FREE
TECHNOLOGY AND UNIQUENESSOF THE TREATMENT
NOBA3 technology is the result of advanced R&D that has addressed the issue of overcoming the use of toxic substances, and at the same time delivering a product specifically designed to give bacteriostatic activity any type of material.
This is an innovative system, extremely flexible and versatile, tailor-made according to the matrix to be treated, using simple completely inorganic natural trace elements, and without altering the mechanical characteristics of the starting material. It is important to confer a completely bacteriostatic application to any polymeric object, fabric, liquid, semi-finished or finished product. In the case of thermoplastic polymers, the effect will be both superficial and internal for the duration of the product.
NOBA3 was created to provide bio and eco-friendly applications in respect of man and the environment, in different application contexts. This is inspired directly by natural biological processes to obtain eco-friendly technologies and smart-materials, which contrast bacteria proliferation through physical action rather than chemical reaction.
Our top priority has been to develop an eco-friendly solution focused on the paramount commitment to protecting our environment. Accordingly, our technology complies with the toughest ZDHC (Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals) requirements, and focuses on principles of transparency and chemicals management according to an integrated prevention and precautionary approach. This approach is aimed at the prohibition of dangerous chemicals throughout the supply chain in the textile, footwear and tanning sector.
In addition, compliance with the system aims to promote sustainability in many sectors with the objective of using renewable sources and obtaining bio-based materials that will have a lower environmental impact, a reduction of CO2 emission in the atmosphere with the goal of contributing to and achieving complete environmental sustainability.
Thanks to this advance research, an important development has been made in the footwear industry with the formulation of antimicrobial polyether. This new antimicrobial polyether has been integrated by Falpe into the “Bio-Source” line, designated as NOBA3, changes any type of footwear from “antimicrobial” to continuous bacteriostatic action.
NOBA3 can be used with various polymer matrices, in addition to the possibility of being mixed with aqueous solutions or already existing mixtures without the obligation, normally, to introduce production systems. It is a technology tailor-made depending on the application to be obtained. The uniqueness of this technology is derived by an active natural principle based on trace elements having a fundamental role against bacterial proliferation, completely eco-friendly while avoiding the use of biocides (regulated BPR) and toxic substances for both man and the environment. This eco-friendly technique does not use nano-particle systems (strictly prohibited as potentially dangerous). Without silver-based, or complementary components that are considered harmful to the human body above a safety threshold, NOBA3 confers permanent "bacteriostatic" properties to physical action to polymers. This new innovative technology prevents growth of bacteria, fungi and viruses and generates a permanent non-chemical physical-mechanical "bacteriostatic" action over time thus avoiding their uncontrolled proliferation and limiting its development and in this specific case by adding purely inorganic components without the use of biocides and toxic substances. The fields of application are truly countless, ranging from the biomedical field, to health sector, personal care, textile, cosmetic, environmental, automotive, packaging, agri-food just to mention a few. The technology is suitable for food contact (food grade according to EU 10/2011). MICROBIOLOGICAL TESTING A number of microbiological tests have been carried out at certified independent external laboratories, which have demonstrated the effectiveness of antimicrobial activity according to current regulations (ISO 22196:2011 polymer and ISO 20743:2013 textile). Results show that microbial growth has been reduced by comparing an untreated sample and treated sample with NOBA3 technology, the same measurement conditions.
